With all the familiar flavors of your favorite chicken recipe, this keto chicken cordon bleu skillet is a complete family dinner. There are just 4 grams net carbs in each serving – leaving you plenty of carbs for sides.

This recipe is a fantastic one to make when you want to treat your tastebuds and eyes to something different! It looks super-fancy and complicated, but it couldn’t be easier to make this classic French recipe. 

Keto Chicken Cordon Bleu Skillet

You’ll love how the flavors mingle in the perfect way. Sharp swiss cheese, tangy dijon mustard, sweet ham, and savory chicken – all enhanced with the rich and creamy sauce. It’s the perfect weeknight dinner for you and your family. 

Skillet Chicken Cordon Bleu 

This recipe uses really simple ingredients that are easy to find. I have a few notes about them. Make sure you get smoked or unsweetened ham when you buy deli ham. Do not use honey ham or maple ham. These will have added sugars and are not keto-friendly. 

Keto Chicken Cordon Bleu Skillet

You should also make sure to buy almond flour, not almond meal. Almond meal will give the chicken a grainy texture that is a bit distracting. 

Swiss cheese is the classic cheese used in cordon bleu, but you don’t have to stick to tradition. Make this with mozzarella cheese instead if you want it to have a milder and sweeter flavor. 

Keto Breadcrumb Substitute 

Chicken cordon bleu is traditionally made with breaded chicken. Since breadcrumbs aren’t keto-friendly, I used my favorite keto breadcrumb substitute – crushed pork rind crumbs! They have tons of flavor and give the chicken the perfect breading.

If you store leftovers, I suggest eating them within three days. The breading on the chicken will soften the longer you leave it in the refrigerator. 

Sides With Chicken Cordon Bleu

This is a kid-friendly meal, so add some kid-friendly sides with it. I like to make cauliflower mash with it. You can also add some keto garlic knots to the side and enjoy them with the cordon bleu.

For something you don’t have to cook, mix together keto cucumber cauliflower salad. It’s tangy and has flavors that taste delicious with the cordon bleu. 

How To Freeze Chicken Cordon Bleu 

This recipe is really easy to freeze. First, follow all the instructions and cook it completely. Then, let it cool to room temperature. When it is cooled down, place all of the chicken and sauce into a freezer-safe food storage bag.

Remove as much air as possible and seal it completely. Then, place it on a baking sheet laying as flat as possible. Place the baking sheet in the freezer.

After the bag is completely frozen, you can take the baking sheet out of the freezer. I like to do it this way because it helps the bag of chicken freeze in a solid, flat form. It won’t freeze around bags of food or in between slats in the freezer. 

This chicken will last six months in the freezer. Before you reheat it, let it thaw in the refrigerator overnight.

Cook Time: 25-30 minutes

Net Carbs: 4 net carbs per serving

Ingredients:

Chicken breasts 
Butter
Garlic powder
Italian seasoning
Almond flour
Chicken broth
Heavy whipping cream
Dijon mustard
Sliced deli ham
Swiss cheese
Pork rind crumbs
Parmesan cheese grated
Salt and pepper 

Instructions:

Place the chicken, almond flour, garlic powder, Italian seasoning and salt and pepper to taste into a mixing bowl, and toss to coat well.

Melt 2 Tbsp of butter in a skillet over medium high heat on the stove.
Add the breaded chicken to the skillet, and saute until the chicken is nearly cooked through and browned on both sides. Remove the chicken and set aside.
Wipe out the skillet if needed.

Pour the chicken broth and heavy whipping cream into the skillet.

Stir in the dijon mustard, and salt and pepper to taste. Simmer until the mixture thickens.

Return the chicken to the skillet, and top with the sliced ham and swiss cheese slices.

Continue to simmer the chicken until it is cooked through and the cheese has melted.

Combine the pork rind crumbs and parmesan cheese, and sprinkle the mixture over the chicken.

Place the chicken under the broiler to toast the top if desired.

  • 4 Chicken Breasts pounded thin
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 cup Almond Flour
  • 1/3 cup Chicken Broth
  • 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 2 tsp Dijon Mustard
  • 8 slices Deli Ham
  • 4 slices Swiss Cheese
  • 1/2 cup Pork Rind Crumbs
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese grated
