This keto chocolate pecan pie tastes so delicious, so incredibly rich, that you’ll swear it’s cheating! But you’re not, it’s low-carb!
Chocolate Pecan Pie
Pecan pie is an iconic fall dessert that is popular in the South. The classic version is made with corn syrup and so sweet and rich that it definitely kicks you out of ketosis!
With a few easy modifications, you can enjoy the low-carb version. You won’t even be able to tell that it’s made with sugar substitutes.
And the addition of melted chocolate elevates it to new heights! The chocolate actually compliments the earthy pecans and somehow it tones down the sweetness from the sugar-free honey and Swerve brown sugar substitute.
Keto Pecan Pie
I’m a huge sucker for southern desserts, and pecan pie is one of my all-time favorites. I’ve made other versions of it before.
My No-Bake Keto Pecan Pie Cheesecake is super-simple and one of the best recipes to make ahead for parties. Plus, the combination of cheesecake and pecan pie is one of the best recipe mashups I’ve ever made.
I also made No Bake Keto Pecan Pie Bars that looked and tasted just like mini pecan pies. This time, I added some chocolate and baked the pies in a keto-friendly pie crust.
You’re going to love how it tastes so much that you’ll find excuses to share it with people.
Southern Pecan Pie
True southern pecan pie is made with a buttery crust and a sugary filling that’s made with sticky corn syrup, cinnamon, and a bunch of pecans. Some people add a tiny bit of bourbon, and others will mix in some melted chocolate.
I skipped the bourbon, but you can add a few tablespoons of it to the filling if you want. It will taste delicious with the brown sugar substitute and the melted butter.
And the chocolate chips are optional, but I think they add the perfect flavors to the pie.
Keto Pie Crust
Everything in this recipe is made from scratch – even the keto-friendly pie crust. I used almond flour as the base of it.
Please don’t use almond meal. If you try to use almond meal, the crust will have a grainy texture that could distract for how delicious it tastes.
And please don’t try to use coconut flour as a 1:1 substitute. It soaks up more moisture as it bakes, so the crust will turn out way too dry and crumbly unless you add another egg or more melted butter.
One last tip – remember to let the cream cheese soften a lot before you add it to the other ingredients. It’ really difficult to mix cold cream cheese.
What To Eat With Pie
This is a perfect fall pie that you’ll be proud to share at parties or dinners. So, serve it with your favorite pumpkin-flavored recipes.
I have a bunch of them on this blog! My favorites are Keto Pumpkin Zucchini Bread, Keto Pumpkin Coffee Cake Cookies, and Keto Pumpkin Spice Scones.
All the different textures mean that there will be something for everyone.
