It’s a stir fry that stands out as a recipe you’ll want to share. Keto Mongolian ground beef and cabbage sizzles with incredible flavor.
Mongolian Ground Beef
Sometimes, you need a recipe that you can just mix and fry and eat – all within 30 minutes. Before I was on the keto diet, I used to rely on fried rice for this kind of recipe.
I’ve made fried cauliflower rice before (it’s actually pretty good!). This time, I stir-fried some ground beef with veggies and cabbage.
The best thing about this recipe is that the cabbage is cut up into noodle-like shapes. So, if you like Chinese stir fried noodles, then you’ll love this easy recipe.
Keep reading and I’ll share some cooking tips, along with some ways that you can change it and make it your own.
Mongolian Beef and Cabbage
I made this recipe with ground beef because it doesn’t require any marinating or slicing, so it’s one of the easiest types of meat to cook. If you want something that’s lower in cholesterol and fat, then I suggest using ground chicken or turkey.
Poultry has less flavor too, so if you use ground chicken, add an additional teaspoon of chili garlic sauce.
What about steak? Yes, you could use sliced steak.
Don’t use stew meat because it is too tough. I suggest making Mongolian beef with a tender cut, like sirloin steak.
Keto Beef and Cabbage
There are 7 grams net carbs in each serving of Spicy Mongolian beef and cabbage. That’s the perfect amount to make you feel full and is easy to fit into your daily macros.
There are a lot of ways to change this recipe. I already mentioned how you can use a different type of meat, but you can also use different veggies and spices, too.
Use any color of bell peppers that you want. If you want it to be spicier, add some jalapeno or poblano peppers.
If you want the ginger flavor to stand out, chop up some fresh ginger instead of using ginger paste. And if you don’t have Sesame oil, you can use either avocado or olive oil instead.
What To Eat With Mongolian Beef
This spicy Mongolian ground beef and cabbage recipe tastes like something you could order from an Asian restaurant, so I like to serve it with my favorite low-carb Chinese foods.
If you are going to be serving an Asian-inspired dinner, then I suggest making some keto bok choy stir fry with soy sauce eggs. This has the same umami flavors with bright green bok choy.
Don’t forget the keto egg drop soup – it’s a staple whenever I make Chinese food for dinner. Instead of a salad, I’ll serve some low-carb tuna sushi in a bowl. It has the same flavors but fewer carbs.
How To Store Cooked Beef
Spicy Mongolian beef is the best thing to add to your weekly meal prep because it tastes even better when you warm it up! As it sits in the refrigerator, the flavors of the sauce will soak more and more into the ground beef and veggies, making it taste even better!
Store your leftover beef in an airtight container. Keep it in the refrigerator for up to three days.
You can freeze this stir fry, too. Place it in a freezer-safe storage bag and keep it frozen for up to six months.
