This is a super-simple Thai basil beef recipe you can make in a skillet. It tastes just like the authentic dish and it’s packed with veggies! When you are craving takeout, fry up this healthy recipe instead.

What Is Thai Basil Beef? 

If this is your first time making Thai food, then this is a perfect recipe for you! This is an easy stir-fry recipe that is made with beef and Thai basil. The secret to this recipe is the Thai basil.

It has a bit more of a bite and licorice-undertone than the sweet basil that we typically grow in our her gardens.

If you can’t find any Thai basil, you can use sweet basil in its place, it just won’t have the exact same flavor as the authentic recipe.

Easy Thai Basil Beef Recipe 

Another thing that makes this recipe so incredibly simple is that I used ground beef instead of strips of steak or roast. This saves me lots of prep time and the ground beef browns so much faster.

Plus, my kids prefer ground beef to steak. It’s easier for them to chew and they don’t have to cut it.

This is the perfect recipe for meal prep. Make a large portion of it for dinner and then place some extra portions in your meal prep containers.

Store it in the airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. 

Reheat the beef stir fry in either the microwave or in a skillet on the stove. If it is too dry, just add a few more splashes of soy sauce (or coconut aminos if you eat completely gluten-free).

How To Cook Thai Basil Beef

This is a super-easy stir fry meal. All you have to do in order to make it is to brown the ground beef with the vegetables. After you drain the extra fat from the skillet, stir fry everything in your homemade sauce. 

You’ll have dinner ready in less than half an hour! 

I used bell peppers and asparagus in this stir-fry. If you want to keep the carb counts really low, you can use zucchini in it too. 

What To Serve With Thai Basil Beef

Traditionally, Thai basil beef is served over a plate of steamed rice. In order to keep the carb counts low, serve this over some hot cauliflower rice instead. 

This is an entire recipe in one skillet, so you might not feel like it needs anything on the side.

How To Make Thai Basil Beef Skillet Meal 

You are going to adore this recipe! It’s the perfect recipe for a busy weeknight. 

Here is the entire list of ingredients that you’ll need to make this keto skillet meal. Exact measurements are located below within the printable recipe card.

Cook Time: 20-25 minutes

Net Carbs: 3 net carbs per serving

Ingredients: 

There are two sets of ingredients – the actual skillet meal and the tangy sauce. 

For the skillet meal, you will need: 

  • Ground Beef
  • Chopped Asparagus Pieces
  • Red Bell Pepper
  • Orange Bell Pepper
  • Red Chili 
  • Thai Basil Leaves
  • Minced Garlic

For the sauce, you’ll need: 

  • Soy Sauce
  • Chili Garlic Sauce
  • Swerve Brown Sugar Substitute
  • Chicken Broth 
  • Fresh Lime Juice
  • Green Onions

Instructions: 

1. Place the ground beef, bell peppers, and asparagus in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Saute until the meat is completely browned and the vegetables have softened. Drain any excess fat.

2. In a bowl, combine the ingredients for the sauce except for the green onions. Whisk to combine well. 

First, add the soy sauce.

Then add the Chili Garlic Sauce.

Next, add some chicken broth.

Sweeten it with Swerve brown sugar substitute.

Don’t forget to add a splash of fresh lime juice too! 

3. Add the minced garlic and red chili to the skillet with the meat mixture, and stir to combine, sauteing for another minute.

4. Reduce the heat to medium and pour the sauce over the mixture. Stir to combine and cook an additional 2-3 minutes.

5. Garnish with green onion and serve over cauliflower rice if desired.

  • 16 ounces Ground Beef

  • 3 tsp Garlic Minced

Sauce

  • 3 tbsp Soy Sauce

  • 1 tsp Swerve Brown Sugar Substitute
  • 2 tbsp Chicken Broth
  • 1 squeeze Fresh Lime Juice
