Enjoy classic comfort food for breakfast! Low-carb sausage gravy with keto biscuits is a gluten-free meal everyone can eat together.
Low-Carb Sausage Gravy
Even though there are casseroles and other ways you can use low-carb sausage gravy, the best way of all is to smother biscuits with it! This is the epitome of comfort food. It has the same salty, peppery taste – but with a lot less carbs (and no gluten!).
Usually, gravy is made by adding milk and flour to sausage. I didn’t use any flour in this gravy at all. To give it the same creamy texture, I used both cream cheese and heavy cream. The chicken or beef broth thins it out and gives it the perfect amount of saltiness.
You don’t have to add very much salt to the gravy at all. Taste it before you sprinkle more.
Keto Biscuits
Can you eat biscuits on the keto diet? As long as they are low-carb, you sure can! My recipe is naturally gluten-free and low in carbs. It’s also really high in healthy fats too. The combination of coconut flour, eggs, and cream cheese all make the softest biscuits.
Use some baking soda to give them a little height.
Save this recipe, because you can use the biscuits in lots of other ways, too. Add a little bit of sugar-free jam to them for a low-carb breakfast. Fill the biscuits with some eggs and bacon for a portable breakfast sandwich.
Or use them to dip into your favorite cheesy soup. There are so many ways to use these low-carb biscuits.
Keto Biscuits and Gravy
This recipe could not be easier. I love making biscuits and gravy for my family as a Christmas breakfast because it doesn’t require much effort but tastes like a rare treat. This recipe makes about 6 biscuits, so if you have a larger family, you might want to double the recipe.
Keto biscuits and gravy are also the perfect things to serve at your next brunch. Make extra biscuits – they are so flaky and buttery that people will be asking for seconds.
If you want to speed up Christmas morning breakfast prep, I suggest making both the biscuits and the gravy ahead of time. Store them separately. Then, all you have to do is heat everything up. Reheat the biscuits in the microwave and the gravy on the stove.
The stove will heat the gravy evenly so there aren’t any cold spots.
Coconut Flour Biscuits
Save this recipe for the coconut flour biscuits, because you can use them over and over again. They are the best low-carb bread replacement.
Store leftover coconut flour biscuits in an airtight container at room temperature. They will stay fresh for up to a week.
These biscuits also freeze really well. Place the biscuits in a freezer-safe food storage bag or container. They will stay good in the freezer for up to 6 months.
Keto Sausage Gravy and Biscuits
This keto sausage gravy and biscuits recipe is incredibly easy to customize. If you want it to be spicier, add some red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce. You can also use spicy ground sausage instead of mild.
This recipe calls for cream cheese and heavy cream. If you use half and half instead of heavy cream, just add another tablespoon of cream cheese so that it stays thick and creamy.
