A Light High-Protein Lunch Idea
Something I definitely don’t miss about not eating keto was the tired, bloated feeling I got after a meal. Does that happen to you, too? I find it hard to portion control knowing I’m not eating something healthy, or good for my body.
That’s why these low carb tuna salad lettuce wraps are my go-to for lunch, or even an afternoon snack. Like other keto tuna recipes, they’re high in protein and the lettuce wraps add a satisfying crunch to an otherwise soft texture. Handheld foods are perfect for a busy mom like myself!

Canned tuna recipes are my favorite budget-friendly way to enjoy a multitude of tasty keto foods. A can of tuna costs an average of just $1, and provides a whopping 42g of pure protein!
The Best Kind of Lettuce For Lettuce Wraps
I used iceberg leaf lettuce. You want to choose something with large leaves that you can wrap around the tuna salad. Romaine lettuce leaves also work perfectly too.
How To Prep Lettuce Wraps
Wash and divide up your iceberg or romaine lettuce into large leaves for easy access later, as well as prepare your tuna salad which will last up to a week in the fridge. I love how fresh these keto tuna salad lettuce wraps taste even when meal-prepped.
An Alternative To Sandwiches For Lunch
My kids have an obsession with my lettuce wraps ideas. They’re a great alternative to the same boring sandwiches at lunchtime that can get repetitive. I get to knock out both mine and theirs with this recipe- which seriously never gets old!
How To Customize Tuna Salad Wraps
You guys know how much I enjoy a customizable recipe I can make over and over. A ketogenic diet plan is made easy this way, by keeping things new and exciting- just how you want life to be! Not settling for boring keto snacks is super important to boost your mood and keep a positive attitude about eating healthy.
Here are some ways you can customize these low-carb wraps:
- Add Cheese – Use your favorite cheese in the tuna salad. Colby jack with tuna tastes amazing. Use any shredded cheese you’d like.
- Spinach– It’s a great way to add some well-needed iron, fiber, and more to your diet.
- Customize With Veggies – Creamy avocado is the perfect addition to tuna salad recipes. Substitute sliced carrot for tomato if you’d like (just watch your sugar intake for the day!)
- Change The Meat– Try out keto lettuce wraps with ground beef, ground turkey, chicken, whatever you have at home. Add bacon pieces to make it extra indulgent.
- Add Hot Sauce– Drizzle over tuna before wrapping because everyone wants a little spice in their life!
- Make A Sandwich – Use this Easy Keto Bread Recipe for a low-carb tuna salad sandwich.
