These keto pecan pralines are an easy no-bake dessert that you can make for parties or munch on when you need an energy boost!
Keto Pecan Pralines
Pecans naturally lend themselves to desserts, don’t you think? These pecan pralines are the perfect way to enjoy a sweet and salty snack when you just don’t exactly know what you want to eat.
They are the perfect post-workout snack. Pecans are an excellent source of monounsaturated fat – which is the healthier type of fat that helps your body actually lower cholesterol. After you get done killing it at the gym, munch on these pralines.
They will keep you full until your next meal and give you a boost of protein for your sore muscles.
What Are Pecan Pralines Made Of
Typically, pecan pralines are like candy. They are a combination of sugar, butter, heavy whipping cream, vanilla, and pecans. When I say they have sugar, they usually have LOTS of sugar – both white and brown sugar. Talk about a blood sugar roller coaster!
I took the pecan praline recipe that I love and made it completely keto-friendly. Instead of white and brown sugar, I used Swerve confectioner’s sugar substitute. I still used butter, heavy whipping cream, and vanilla – because those are not sources of carbs.
In the end, these little pralines only have 1g net carb in each one!
No-Bake Pecan Balls
These little snacks don’t look very round to me, but I like the term balls more than “pecan bites” or “pecan treats.” They are sweet with a slightly salty undertone from the pecans. The texture is the exact same as traditional pralines – crunchy with a caramelized coating.
No matter what you call them, they are delicious – and don’t require any baking! In fact, older kids can help you make them. If they are mature enough to stir hot liquid on the stove, they can handle making these little treats.
When you are done making them, store them in the refrigerator! I would not store them at room temperature because they might melt. Keep them somewhere chilled and they will last for about a week (if you don’t eat them before that!).
What about freezing pecan pralines? Yes, you can freeze them too! If you want to freeze them, I suggest placing them on a baking sheet in a single layer and putting the baking sheet in the freezer.
Then, after they are all frozen, you can place the frozen pralines in a resealable freezer-safe bag and keep that in the freezer for up to 6 months.
Low-Carb Pralines
Another one of my favorite things to do with these low-carb pralines is to crumble them up and use them as a sweet and crunchy topping for my keto ice cream. You can even mix them into the ice cream to make your own praline pecan flavor!
Make sure you have plenty of these little treats on hand, especially if you have kids! They are going to love them!
Are Pecans Keto
Yes, pecans are a perfectly keto-friendly type of nut. In fact, one ounce (or about 19 pecan halves) only contains 4g net carbs. They are full of healthy fats that will help you burn more fat while you are on this diet.
