When you’re craving both, make both! These keto sweet and spicy pecans are the perfect homemade gift or keto-friendly snack.
Sweet and Spicy Pecans
If you love to snack and you need something healthy and low-carb to munch on when those cravings hit, then this is your recipe. There are only 3 grams net carbs in each serving, so it fits in with your macros and keto diet.
Plus, there are only four simple ingredients. This is probably one of the easiest snacks you can make but it’s the flavor and texture that really stands out to me.
These sweet and spicy pecans are fantastically crunchy. They satisfy that craving for potato chips.
They’re also slightly sweet, so they also fix that sugar craving we all get. Then, the heat and earthy flavors hit your tongue.
Basically, you can’t make pecans taste much better than this.
Keto Pecan Snack
How many carbs are in pecans? In one cup of chopped pecans, there are 13.7 total grams of carbs, 9 grams of fiber, and only 4.2 grams of net carbs.
When it comes to nuts, pecans have some of the lowest carb counts (which is why I enjoy cooking with them so much). After you make this easy keto pecan snack, you can munch on them whenever the craving hits.
They’re a portable snack that you can pack in your gym back and eat right after a big workout. Or, set out a bowl of the roasted pecans at any parties (including holiday parties).
Everyone will eat them up! And you’ll feel good eating them, too. They are high in protein and healthy fats.
Easy Pecan Snack
The flavor really is the best thing about this recipe but you’ll also love how quickly the pecans roast in the oven. The hardest part about them is waiting for the oven to preheat.
After that, it only takes about 10 minutes for them to be ready to eat! If you don’t want to wait for the oven to preheat, then make them in the air fryer.
You’ll cook them at the same temperature and for the same amount of time. But when you use the air fryer, remember to shake the basket halfway through cooking so that they roast evenly.
Roasted Pecans
There are only four easy ingredients in these roasted pecans. Let’s look closer at them (and which substitutes you can make).
First, you’ll need pecans. I suggest using pecan halves, not whole and not chopped. I sweetened them with sugar-free honey, but you can use sugar-free maple syrup instead.
Then, flavor it with some cinnamon and cayenne pepper. Use as much pepper as you want so that it gets as spicy as you like.
And they last a long time, too! Store the roasted pecans in an airtight container and keep them in your pantry.
If you keep the air off of them, they will stay fresh for about two weeks.
If you want them to last for months, you could freeze them. But they’re so easy to make that I prefer to make a fresh batch each time.
Hot Honey Pecans
I guess you could call them hot honey roasted pecans. I used sugar-free honey with cinnamon and cayenne pepper, so it fits.
You could also call them Red Hot Pecans – like the famous gum. Either way, they’re delicious!
If you love the hot honey flavor, then make Low-Carb Hot Honey Chicken Bowl for dinner. You’ll want to repeat that recipe for sure!
I’ve made other recipes with nuts, too. For something with less spice, makeKeto Herb Roasted Nuts and for something sweeter, make some Keto Brown Sugar Candied Walnuts.
