Are Walnuts Keto
Yes, walnuts are a keto-friendly nut. They are a fantastic source of Omega-3 fatty acids, otherwise known as “healthy fats.”
They’re also high in vitamin E and protein, too.
In one ounce of walnuts, there are only 2 grams net carbs. That’s why I love to bake with them and add them to my low-carb trail mix and snacks.
How much is one ounce of walnuts? It’s about 1/4 a cup, or one small handful.
In that same ounce of walnuts, there are also 2 grams of fiber and other nutrients like magnesium and folate, too.
Candied Walnuts
There are only four simple ingredients in these candied walnuts. Making them is one of the easiest things you’ll ever do.
In fact, you don’t have to bake them at all! Simply mix all the ingredients together, spread the walnuts out into a single layer, and then let them set.
It really is that easy! Then, you’ll have some sweet and salty walnuts that you can snack on whenever the craving hits you!
Add the candied walnuts to your favorite charcuterie board, snack mix, or chop them up and add them onto your yogurt.
Keto Candied Walnuts
To make the keto candied walnuts, you’ll need to use real butter, preferably unsalted. Since walnuts are already salty, adding more could make the candied walnuts taste a tad too salty.
Then sweeten them with Swerve brown sugar substitute. This sweetener has notes of caramel in it, which pairs really well with the woodsy walnuts.
There are 3 grams net carbs in each serving of keto candied walnuts. The entire recipe makes four servings.
I suggest splitting the candied walnuts into four servings so that it helps with portion control. They taste so good that you might be tempted to eat them all in one sitting!
Keto Snacks
Are you a snacker? It’s ok to eat snacks on keto, as long as you stay within your macros for the entire day.
In fact, I publish a lot of recipes that you can eat whenever you feel snacky.
Do you like dips? Then make a keto pumpkin veggie dip or for some spice, make a keto buffalo chicken dip.
But if your sweet tooth is screaming at you, then make a quick batch of keto pumpkin cinnamon muffins with keto air fryer chocolate peanut butter bites.
How To Store Candied Nuts
You can store them in a sealed bag or container and keep them at room temperature in your pantry or on your counter. They will stay fresh at room temperature for up to a week.
If you want them to last even longer store them in your refrigerator. They will stay fresh in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.
