Everyone’s making it and now there is a low-carb version! This keto chicken cobbler is an easier version of a chicken pot pie.
What Is Chicken Cobbler
Have you ever made a fruit cobbler before? You basically add fruity pie filling to a baking dish and top it with raw cake batter. Well, that’s the basic idea behind this savory chicken cobbler.
Combining chicken and gravy and topping with biscuit dough is a recipe that is taking over TikTok. It’s so popular because it’s so easy! And it doesn’t hurt that it tastes delicious too.
TikTok Chicken Cobbler Recipe
It’s really easy to turn the classic chicken cobbler recipe from TikTok into a low-carb version. All you have to do is make gravy with heavy cream instead of flour, and make the topping with fathead dough instead of biscuit dough.
What is fathead dough? It’s a keto-friendly bread dough that uses almond flour, cream cheese, butter, and baking powder. I’ve used this fathead bread recipe to make keto bread bowls before. I also used it to make keto chicken pesto flatbread. There are so many things you can make with it – and a biscuit topping is one of the best uses for it yet!
Keto Chicken and Gravy Cobbler
Is chicken gravy keto-friendly? Unfortunately, the gravy you buy at the grocery store is not keto-friendly. It is usually thickened with either flour or corn starch. Both of those ingredients will make the gravy have too many carbs for a keto diet.
Thankfully, it’s easy to make your own chicken gravy! The easiest way to make tasty chicken gravy is to thicken chicken broth with heavy whipping cream. It’s an easy shortcut anyone can do.
Keto Chicken Casserole
There are six grams net carbs in each serving of this chicken cobbler casserole. If that’s too many carbs, there are ways that you can cut back on a few carbs. Start by removing the carrots. They are so good for you that they are worth the extra carbs, but they are high in carbs.
You can also cut the topping recipe in half and use less of it. Make a thinner crust on top or just add a small dollop on top, like small biscuits,
This is the perfect thing to add to your meal prep for the week, too. Store leftover chicken cobbler in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
After about three days, the gravy will soften the topping and it won’t be as enticing.
What To Eat With Chicken Casserole
This chicken cobbler is an entire meal in one dish! It already has meat and veggies, so the only thing you need to add to the table are a few side dishes with more veggies.
I love how the easy keto broccoli salad tastes with the creamy chicken cobbler. Or, if you enjoy Mediterranean flavors, then make some keto Greek cauliflower rice. It’s filled with fresh veggies, just like the chicken cobbler is.
I love making some keto crack biscuits with it! Dip them into the gravy, it’s so good!
