L0w-Carb Italian Ground Beef
You know how easy spaghetti is? Just boiling the noodles, adding the sauce, and then it’s time to eat.
Well, this green beans bake is just as easy. I basically replaced the spaghetti noodles with green beans and I also topped it with fresh mozzarella cheese.
That last step makes all the difference! Whether you’re looking for something easy (but different) for dinner, or you need a tasty new way to eat more vegetables, this recipe is a delicious option.
It’s bursting with Italian flavors and one of the easiest casseroles you’ll make.
Italian Ground Beef Green Beans Bake
I used lean ground beef as the base for this incredible baked casserole. I love how it produces the least amount of grease as you brown it in the skillet.
Alternatively, you can also make this recipe with ground chicken or turkey. But if you use ground beef that’s higher in fat, make sure to drain the excess grease after it cooks.
I also suggest using fresh garlic, too. I noticed that when I use jarred minced garlic, I have to use more of it to get the same amount of aroma and flavor.
What is your favorite type of low-carb marinara sauce? Use it! I love Simply Ragu because it is so affordable and it’s made with basically tomatoes and spices.
Beef and Green Beans
To get the most flavor from the green beans, make sure you blanch them first.
What is blanching? It when you boil the green beans in salted water for a very short time.
You don’t want them to become soft, you just want them to soften a little bit and get a bit of flavor. Plus, when you blanch them, they will get bright green, too.
Can you use frozen or canned green beans? You can certainly blanch frozen green beans, but you can’t use canned
The canned green beans are way too soft. And I also don’t recommend using canned green beans in the casserole, either.
The blanched ones will have that crisp-tender texture that tastes the best.
How To Store A Casserole
Since this is made without any pasta noodles, it’s the perfect recipe to add to your weekly meal prep. Store the baked Italian ground beef and green beans in an airtight food storage container.
Keep it in the refrigerator for up to three days. You can freeze this recipe, too!
Keep it in a freezer-safe food storage bag or container. It will stay fresh in the freezer for up to six months.
Then, let it thaw in the refrigerator and reheat it in the microwave.
