Recreate a low-carb version of the In-N-Out Burger animal style! This recipe even has the tangy special sauce too.
In-N-Out Burger Animal Style
Have you heard of the animal style burger from In-N-Out Burger? It’s on their not-so-secret menu.
According to their website, it’s the toppings that sets this burger apart from all the others. They have tomato, mustard. pickle, special sauce, and grilled onions.
In fact, it’s the special sauce that makes it taste so good! So, I took this animal style burger and made roll-ups with the same basic ingredients.
Just like the animal burger, these roll-ups have a delicious dipping sauce and incredible toppings that I turned into part of the filling.
Keto Burger Roll-Ups
The base of the roll-ups is the ground beef, just like the hamburger but you don’t have to use ground beef. You can make the roll ups with either ground turkey or ground chicken.
But to make the cheese wraps, you will have to use shredded cheddar cheese. You can use either extra sharp white cheddar or just plain cheddar cheese.
I suggest shredding the cheese at home so you can avoid the ant-caking materials that are in bags of shredded cheese. And to save you time, use dill pickle relish instead of dicing up dill pickles.
Copycat In-N-Out Burger
The secret to making the filling taste like an In-N-Out burger is to brown the beef with some freshly diced onions. I suggest using either yellow or white onions for the best flavor.
Then you’ll season the beef with more onion and garlic powder.
If you want to add some heat to the roll-ups, use spicy brown mustard instead of Dijon or yellow mustard. This one simple swap makes a huge difference.
What To Eat With Roll Ups
Since these roll-ups are a fun little finger food, I like to serve them with a lighter side dish. Keto TikTok Mini Peppers and Cucumber Salad tastes fresh and is delightfully low in carbs.
Since these roll-ups taste like a cheeseburger, serve them with Keto fried pickles with cheese. It’s the perfect side dish and reminds me of tangy French fries or you can go with a BBQ favorite – keto potato salad with cauliflower.
How To Store Cheese Roll Ups
You can even make these animal style burger roll ups ahead of time or use them in your weekly meal plan. They taste best when they are hot out of the oven, but you can eat them cold, too.
Store them in an airtight container and keep them in the refrigerator for up to three days. Since the wraps are made of cheese, I don’t recommend reheating them – you might accidentally melt them.
And keep the dipping sauce in a separate container. It will stay fresh in the refrigerator for about a week.
