Your mouth will water as you make these keto pork belly burnt ends! They come out crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle!
What Are Burnt Ends
Let me tell you, burnt ends are incredible! They are made from the fatty parts of the meat and cooked until the fat crystallizes and gives the meat a crispy coating. Most of the time you’ll find burnt ends made from beef brisket. You can also make burnt ends from pork belly.
The pork belly is the same place that bacon comes from. These burnt ends basically taste like large pieces of bacon. They are incredible!
Keto Burnt Ends
I made these burnt ends in the oven. When you bake burnt ends, you don’t have to stand over a hot stove, which can be difficult when you are distracted by kiddos or pets. Putting them in the oven lets the oven do all the work!
These burnt ends have a deliciously sweet and smoky flavor, a lot like classic Kansas City BBQ. If you don’t like your BBQ to taste sweet, then leave out the brown sugar substitute.
I also made them mild since my kids aren’t a fan of spicy foods. If you want your burnt ends to pack some heat, I suggest using your favorite spicy (and sugar-free) BBQ sauce.
Keto Pork Belly Burnt Ends
These keto pork belly burnt ends really taste the best when they are hot and fresh out of the oven. You can certainly use them in your meal prep, but the texture will change the longer they are in the refrigerator.
When you reheat them, the burnt ends won’t be as crispy, but they will still taste just as delicious!
Best Sugar-Free BBQ Sauce
Look at the ingredients list and make sure that you aren’t using a BBQ sauce with sugar or corn syrup as an ingredient. I love G Hughes Smokehouse line of BBQ sauces. Ray’s has a no sugar added sauce that is tasty too!
You can never go wrong with Primal Kitchen. Their products are keto-friendly and paleo too.
What To Eat With Burnt Ends
Serve these burnt ends with your favorite salad and BBQ side dishes. Whenever I eat BBQ, I crave coleslaw, so make this easy keto coleslaw with it.
Then make some keto fried pickles on the side too. Or, make some keto cornbread to go along with it. There are so many tasty ideas and things to serve with it.
