Traditionally, mousse is a dessert that is made to be light and airy or thick and creamy. Either way, it’s sweetened with sugar, so it’s not usually considered to be keto-friendly.

Thankfully, if you just use a keto-friendly sweetener, you can make a delicate mousse that dances on your tongue without sacrificing your diet. 

There are just 2 grams net carbs in each serving of keto vanilla mousse! My recipe makes 8 servings, so even if you want eat half the dish, it’s probably best if you only eat 1/8 or 1/4 of it.

Sometimes you crave something sweet; sometimes, you crave something soft and light. Well, this mousse recipe is the best of both worlds! 

Keto Vanilla Mousse

There are some traditional mousse recipes that use whipped egg whites to get that iconic mousse texture. I whipped heavy whipping cream instead I wanted something that would fill me up and wouldn’t leave me craving more sweets when I was done. 

In order to keep it keto-friendly, use Swerve confectioner’s sugar substitute. This sweetener whips up perfectly and it won’t leave you with a funny aftertaste.

It’s really important that you eat plenty of healthy fats when you are on the keto diet. That’s why I love making dessert with heavy whipping cream. Not only is it naturally sweet, but it fills me up and gives my body the fat it needs to stay in ketosis.

I’ve made a few other desserts with heavy whipping cream before they always turn out wonderfully! When you want some ice cream, make a keto protein chocolate frosty. It tastes just like the dessert from the drive through! 

For something fruity, make a bowl of keto banana pudding. It’s high in nutrients but tastes like a pudding. 

You can even used a homemade whipped cream to make keto strawberry shortcake.

There are literally three simple steps to make this mousse. It’s the perfect last-minute dessert to serve at a party or to make for yourself when your sugar cravings are extra strong.

How To Store Mousse 

Since this recipe is so simple, you don’t have to make a big batch and store it in the refrigerator. You can just make a bit when you’re craving it.

The best way to store leftover vanilla mousse is to put it in a sealed food storage container and keep it in the refrigerator for up to three days. After about three days, the texture will start to deteriorate.

Heavy whipping cream
Xanthan gum
Swerve confectioners sugar substitute
Vanilla extract
Pinch of salt

Instructions:

Combine all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl.
