Dutch Oven Turkey Breast
Did you know that you can make a turkey in a Dutch oven? It’s one of the easiest ways to prepare a turkey dinner for a family of four (or more, depending on the size of the turkey breast).
This is one of my favorite ways to make turkey, even for Thanksgiving. When you cook the turkey breast roast, you don’t have to thaw a huge bird, clean it, or worry about basting it.
This Dutch oven turkey breast turns out so flavorful, so moist, and so perfect! It’s made with fresh herbs and a mirepoix base, so all that flavor seeps deep into the meat.
Plus, it’s ready in just two hours. Trust me, this will become your favorite way to make turkey for Thanksgiving.
Low-Carb Turkey Roast
Turkey is a low-fat, pure source of protein. It’s one of the best things that you can eat on the keto diet and if you need to cut back on your macros, just don’t eat the veggies.
What are the best herbs and spices to use on a turkey? I like the classic combination of rosemary and thyme.
I used the dried versions and it turned out really delicious. But if you have fresh herbs, use them!
Sage is another popular choice for turkey. And if you want to add a little bit of heat, sprinkle some red pepper flakes on top.
Cook the turkey in either chicken or turkey broth. If you don’t have either one, then vegetable broth will work too.
Dutch Oven Roast Turkey
For this recipe, I suggest using a large Dutch oven. You need room for the meat, vegetables, and broth, without it boiling over.
If you’re going to use a smaller one, use fewer ingredients. This is the perfect way to make a bunch of food that you can eat later on in the week.
Use the leftover turkey on top of your salad, mix it into a cauliflower rice stir fry, or add it to a soup. There are so many options!
What To Eat With Turkey
This Dutch oven turkey breast is the perfect entree for a low-carb Thanksgiving dinner. Serve it with your favorite keto-friendly side dishes.
I suggest making some keto sausage stuffing, keto cauliflower stuffing and some loaded cauliflower mash! For dessert, make some no-bake keto pecan pie bars.
It’s really simple to make low-carb Thanksgiving feats everyone can eat together.
How To Store Turkey
This is the perfect meal to make ahead of time. Store the turkey breast and vegetables in an airtight food storage container and keep them in the refrigerator for up to three days.
Then, reheat everything in the dutch oven right before you serve it.
