Steak Fajita Skewers
What is your favorite thing about steak fajitas? I bet it’s the combination of juicy steak with crispy grilled veggies. These skewers are a lot of fun to make. You can grill them at home or when you are camping.
They are the perfect keto-friendly dinner you can make for everyone, and they won’t even know they are low-carb.
I like to make kabobs for my kids. These fun finger foods are a creative way to encourage them to eat their veggies – especially when they build their own skewers. They loved my keto grilled shrimp kabobs and these steak fajita skewers are a close second.
Keto Steak Kabobs
I used sirloin steak for these kabobs. I found that this cut of beef is the most tender one. It doesn’t require any marinating or slow cooking to make it tender. You can also use a flat iron, a strip steak, or beef tenderloin for kabobs.
All of those choices are budget-friendly and relatively tender cuts of beef. Avoid stew meat. That name tells you it needs to simmer slowly for a long time to tenderize.
This recipe for keto spare ribs has a fantastic sugar-free marinade recipe in it that you can use on steak too. If you buy a tough cut of beef, marinate it overnight to make it as tender as possible.
Fajita Kabobs
There isn’t a right or wrong way to layer your kabobs. Just make sure that you spread the veggies out in between pieces of steak. I used bell peppers and onions. You can use any color of peppers or onions on your skewers.
If you use bamboo skewers, make sure you dip them in water before you place the meat and veggies on them. This will protect them from burning while you cook the food on them.
What To Eat With Kabobs
Serve these keto kabobs with your favorite l0w-carb sides that you would enjoy on a cookout or at a BBQ. I think these keto Hawaiin rolls will taste delicious with them. Keto strawberry shortcake is always perfect for serving at cookouts.
Since the beef is flavored with taco seasoning, serve them with some homemade keto tortilla chips and your favorite homemade keto salsa. It’s a low-carb and gluten-free Mexican cookout!
How Long To Grill Skewered Beef
The best way to tell if your beef is completely cooked is to use an instant-read food thermometer. Your beef should be cooked until it reaches an internal temperature of 145F. This took about 10 minutes on my grill.
