It’s the perfect dinner recipe when you’re craving takeout.
What Is Bang Bang Chicken
Have you ever seen bang bang chicken on a menu at a Chinese restaurant? It goes by a lot of other names.
You might have seen it called Bon Bon chicken or Bam Bam Chicken. But the one thing they all have in common is the flavor.
Almost all recipes feature chicken that’s cooked in a sweet and tangy sauce. Bang Bang Sauce is usually made with chili oil, sesame paste, and a bunch of other flavors.
As the title implies, bang bang chicken is an explosion of flavor in your mouth! Some versions use the sauce as a drizzle, some as a dipping sauce.
I cooked the chicken thighs in a skillet and a lot of the creamy bang bang sauce. My version makes the thighs tender and juicy.
They soak up all those flavors, making every bite full of spice and flavor.

You can use the bang bang sauce to make other recipes, too. You might see bang bang shrimp and pork cutlets.
I’ve even made keto bang bang cauliflower. The sweet and spicy flavors in the sauce go with almost any protein or veggie that you want to cook.
This recipe only takes about 30 minutes from start to finish. While you’re cooking the chicken, steam some frozen cauliflower rice, and then serve the chicken on top of the cauliflower.
It’s a simple recipe that tastes incredible but takes almost no effort at all.
Keto Bang Bang Chicken
Can you use chicken breasts instead of thighs to make bang bang chicken? Yes, you sure can!
In fact, if you have some leftover keto chicken nuggets, heat them up, make the sauce separately, and then coat the nuggets in the sauce.
It’s a really easy dinner that doesn’t involve cooking any chicken. But if you do have to cook the chicken, make sure the internal temperature reaches 165F.
There are other ingredient swaps you can make, too. Instead of mayo, use Greek yogurt. And if you don’t have sugar-free honey, you can use sugar-free brown sugar substitute. Instead of Sriracha, use your favorite hot sauce.
Keto Spicy Chicken
Do you want your bang bang chicken to be even spicier? That’s easy! Just add more Sriracha. Or, chop up some jalapenos and add them to the sauce. That will really amp up the heat.
You can add this easy chicken thighs recipe to your weekly meal prep, too. Store the bang bang chicken thighs – with the sauce – in an airtight food storage container.
Keep it in the refrigerator for up to three days.
Skillet Bang Bang Chicken Thighs
Since this is a classic Chinese recipe, complete your meal by serving the chicken with some classic Chinese sides. All of the ideas I’ll share are low-carb and since there is only 2 grams net carbs in each serving of this chicken, you can serve a few different sides with it.
Start out with either Keto Shrimp Egg Roll In A Bowl or make some Keto Egg Roll Wraps. Then, serve your egg rolls with some Keto Crab Rangoon Casserole.
And if you’re missing the traditional Chinese carbs (rice and noodles) I have some ideas. Make a plate of either Low-Carb Veggie Egg Fried Rice With Bacon or Keto Dan Dan Noodles and everyone will love Keto Scallion Pancakes.
