They are as fun to eat as they are to make! Keto Christmas cookie cups are filled with a low-carb cream cheese frosting for a fun treat.
What Are Cookie Cups
Cookie cups are a fun twist on a classic dessert. Sweet cookie dough is baked with an indentation in the middle.
Then, that hollow middle is filled with a sweet filling of your choice! There are so many different ways to make them.
In this recipe, I took a basic keto-friendly sugar cookie base and filled them with a low-carb and high-fat cream cheese frosting. The result is easier to eat than a sandwich cookie and as delicious as your favorite keto cupcake.
Keto Cookie Cups
This is a very basic recipe that leaves a lot of room for creativity! Here are a few different ways to change up this recipe and make it taste how you want!
- Add sugar-free chocolate chips to the cookie dough
- Drizzle the top with keto-friendly chocolate sauce
- Add a strawberry slice on top
- Use food coloring to dye the cookies red and green.
- Add peppermint extract to the cream cheese frosting.
Best Keto Cookie Dough
For the cookie cups, I used just a few simple ingredients. The result is a dough that can hold up under the weight of the cream cheese frosting.
You’ll need to use almond flour – not coconut flour or almond meal. The almond flour makes the cookies soft and strong at the same time.
Then, sweeten the cookie dough with Swerve confectioner’s sugar substitute. This is a fluffier sweetener, so it makes the cookie cups melt in your mouth.
Sugar-Free Desserts
These tasty keto cookie cups will look perfectly festive at your next family dinner or holiday party! If you’re going to share this at a family dinner, make a loaf of Keto Pumpkin Zucchini Bread.
You don’t have to serve them at a party. Keep them at home and eat them as a snack, along with some Keto Pumpkin Pecan Cream Cheese Roll-Ups.
They also have a tasty cream cheese filling!
My Keto Crispy Cinnamon Cream Cheese Roll-Ups are also really good fall or winter desserts. They taste like cinnamon rolls, but are easy to eat!
How To Store Keto Cookies
I suggest storing them in the refrigerator because of the cream cheese filling. Most of the time you can keep homemade cookies at room temperature, as long as you keep the air off of them, but the cream cheese filling needs to be refrigerated.
Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to five days. They are easy to freeze, too!
Just wrap each cookie in parchment paper and store them in a freezer bag in the freezer for up to six months.
