Enjoy bold Cajun flavors in this creamy keto shrimp recipe! Quick, low-carb, and packed with spice, it’s perfect for a weeknight dinner that’s healthy and delicious.

I have to admit, I might have a favorite seasoning blend. If you’ve made any of my other low-carb Cajun recipes, then you probably already know how much I love it!

Creamy Keto Cajun Shrimp

It tastes perfect with chicken, beef, pork, and seafood. As much as I love a good shrimp scampi or seafood boil, this Cajun recipe deserves a spot on the weekly rotation. 

What’s in my Cajun shrimp skillet? I cooked the shrimp with some onions, bell peppers, celery, and garlic. And then made a creamy sauce spiced with Cajun seasoning.

It’s so easy but makes such a big difference! Keep reading and I’ll share some ingredient swaps you can make, and some of my favorite sides to share with it. 

Keto Creamy Shrimp

There is a group of ingredients that cooks normally call “aromatics” – celery, peppers, carrots, and onions. Some add garlic to the list. 

Creamy Keto Cajun Shrimp

Well, I used most of them in this shrimp recipe! They’re called aromatics because (as you can guess) they fill the air with the most amazing smells!

What else can you add to this shrimp dish? If you want it to have more heat, add some jalapeno peppers.

If you want to give it more color, sprinkle some paprika on top and add sliced green onions. And if you want to make it dairy-free, replace the heavy whipping cream with canned coconut milk. 

Spicy Creamy Shrimp

This spicy and creamy shrimp recipe is one of the best ways to enjoy Cajun seasoning! If you think it’s too spicy, add more cream.

Creamy Keto Cajun Shrimp

If it’s not spicy enough, add some hot sauce or red pepper flakes and it tastes amazing with almost anything on the side. Dip some keto garlic knots into the creamy sauce. 

If you like to eat salad with your shrimp, make a copycat Olive Garden Salad. But if you want to try something different, make the popular Keto Tiktok Mini Peppers and Cucumber Salad.

And if you want to add more veggies to the table, make bacon wrapped asparagus on the side too. Everything is better with bacon! 

Shrimp and Peppers

When you make this shrimp and peppers skillet meal, use your favorite color of bell peppers. I used red because they’re slightly sweet and look incredible in the cream sauce.

Creamy Keto Cajun Shrimp

You could use green or yellow bell peppers – or all three! 

This recipe is also the perfect thing to add to your weekly meal prep. Store a serving of it in your meal prep airtight container.

Keep it in the refrigerator for up to three days and reheat it in the microwave. 

It’s freezer-friendly, too. Place the shrimp and peppers dish into a freezer-safe bag, seal it, and keep it in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Then, reheat it in a skillet until it’s heated all the way through. 

Creamy Shrimp Sauce 

The sauce I used on the shrimp and peppers can be used on so many other things, too! Save this recipe, you’ll come back to it.

Creamy Keto Cajun Shrimp

Try the Cajun cream sauce on top of zoodles, your favorite low-carb noodles, or as a sauce for chicken and bacon. You could even use it on top of other types of seafood – like salmon or crab. 

If you don’t have chicken broth on-hand, you can use chicken bouillon cubes to make your own broth. One cube plus one cup of water will make one cup of broth.

If you make broth this way, use unsalted butter and less salt overall. Chicken bouillon cubes are pretty high in salt. 

Keto Creamy Cajun Shrimp Recipe

Below are the ingredients (and step by step pictures) that you’ll need to make this creamy keto Cajun shrimp recipe. Exact measurements and instructions are in the printable recipe card, just a little further below.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15-20 minutes
Servings: 4
Net Carbs: 5 net carbs per serving

Ingredients:

  • Shrimp peeled and deveined with tails off
  • Olive oil
  • Cajun seasoning divided
  • Butter
  • Onion chopped
  • Red bell pepper chopped
  • Celery chopped
  • Minced garlic
  • Heavy whipping cream
  • Chicken broth

Instructions:

Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium high heat.

Sprinkle all but 1 tsp of the cajun seasoning over the shrimp, and toss to coat well.

Cook the shrimp in the heated oil until seared well and cooked through. Remove, and set aside

Add the butter to the skillet, and reduce the heat to medium.

Stir in the onions, peppers and celery. Saute until the vegetables have softened.

Mix in the garlic, and saute 30 seconds longer.

Pour in the chicken broth and heavy whipping cream.

Add the Cajun seasoning, and stir to combine.

Simmer until the sauce has thickened.

Return the shrimp to the skillet, and toss to coat well in the sauce before serving.
