Avocado toast is incredibly delicious, and it’s no wonder it’s been such a big trend. It’s full of healthy fats and super versatile.

Keto Cottage Cheese Toast

If you’re looking for a simple way to jazz up your breakfast, lunch, or snack, then try cottage cheese toast. It’s basically avocado toast but with cottage cheese, tomatoes, and spices on top! 

It’s incredibly easy to change the recipe to match your current cravings. Keep reading, and I’ll share my favorite ingredient swaps and topping ideas.

The best thing about cottage cheese is that it’s thick and creamy – just like avocado! So it sits perfectly on the toast and it’s also mild, so you can mix in a variety of different spices or flavors and it will almost always taste delicious. 

Cottage Cheese Avocado Toast 

Can you make toast with both cottage cheese and avocado? Yes, you sure can!

Keto Cottage Cheese Toast

They taste incredible together! This is an especially when you’re on keto, you need to feed your body plenty of healthy fats to keep burning body fat. 

Cottage cheese is also a wonderful source of calcium and Vitamin D. But did you know it’s also a good source of protein?

In 1/2 a cup of cottage cheese there is 14 grams of protein! This is a wonderful choice for breakfast because it wakes up your metabolism and fuels your body with the nutrients it needs. 

Keto Cottage Cheese Toast Ingredients

For my toppings, I added some tomatoes and everything bagel seasoning. Here are some more toppings you can add to your cottage cheese toast: 

  • Crumbled Bacon 
  • Jalapeno Peppers
  • Sugar-Free Honey 
  • Chopped Walnuts 
  • Thinly-sliced strawberries 
  • Thinly-sliced cucumbers 

Best Keto Bread 

What is the healthiest and best keto-friendly bread you can buy? That depends on what’s important to you.

You can always make your own almond flour bread. That way you know what’s in it.

The Diet Chef has a list of 15 different brands of low-carb bread and explains the differences between them really well. My favorite kind of keto-friendly bread is L’oven low-carb bread because I can buy it at Aldi’s and each slice is just 0 grams net carbs! 

What To Eat With Avocado Toast 

What you eat with cottage cheese toast depends on when you’re eating it. If you’re going to eat it for breakfast, I suggest making a homemade keto brown sugar shaken espresso.

It’s so filling that it’s the perfect breakfast by itself. If you’re going to eat it for a snack, then some keto charcuterie jars are perfect with it.

They are high-protein and you can add different fruits and veggies to the jars. And if you’re going to eat the toast for lunch, then make a salad with it so you get more veggies.

How Long Does Cottage Cheese Last 

You should use soft cheese – like cottage cheese or ricotta cheese – within one week of opening them. If it is within that week and you notice a little separation happening, just give it a good stir.

I don’t recommend freezing the cottage cheese to make it last longer. Once you thaw it, the texture will change so much that it isn’t as appetizing.

Ingredients

  • Keto Bread
  • Avocado 
  • Cottage Cheese
  • Everything Bagel Seasoning 
  • Cherry Tomatoes 

Directions 

Adding avocado to the toast

Toast the slices of bread. Place the avocado in a bowl, and smash it with the tines of a fork until it is spreadable.

Spread half of the avocado on each slice of toast.

Adding cottage cheese

Top each slice of toast with ½ of the cottage cheese.

Add the tomatoes to the top of the slices of toast.

Sprinkle with Everything Bagel seasoning and serve.

  • 2 slices Keto-friendly bread
  • 1/2 cup Cottage Cheese
  • 1 Avocado sliced and mashed
  • 1/2 tsp Everything Bagel Seasoning
  • 4-5 Multi-Colored Cherry Tomatoes sliced

Instructions
 

  • Toast the slices of bread.
  • Place the avocado in a bowl, and smash it with the tines of a fork until it is spreadable.
  • Spread half of the avocado on each slice of toast.
  • Top each slice of toast with ½ of the cottage cheese.
  • Add the tomatoes to the top of the slices of toast.
  • Sprinkle with Everything Bagel seasoning and serve.
