Piled high with two beef patties and as much cheese as you want, a keto cheeseburger grilled cheese is winning the lunch game! And it tastes just like a Five Guys cheeseburger.
Cheeseburger Grilled Cheese
There’s nothing quite like a well-made grilled cheese. The bread is toasted and grilled perfectly, with the cheese melting in the middle.
What happens if you added some hamburger patties to it? Now you have an epic cheeseburger grilled cheese.
You can order this at Five Guys, too! They call it something different, though. And you won’t find it on their regular menu.
If you ask them to add a burger patty to their grilled cheese sandwich, you’ll get something that looks just like my recipe. But, it won’t be low-carb.
That’s why I created this recipe for you! You can make it at home, saving money (and it’s healthier for you, too!).
Copycat Five Guys Burger
The secret to making a burger that tastes just like Five Guys is to pat the patties until they are extra thin. Remembers, burger patties thicken as they fry, so make them extra wide and thin.
To give the burgers a boost of flavor, I suggest adding a drop of Worcestershire sauce to each burger patty. It’s totally optional, but it makes a huge difference. And how you chop the onions makes a big difference, too.
Five guys dices their onions, so if you want this to be a copycat, chop the onions into tiny pieces and saute them until they are crispy.
Keto Cheeseburger
What is the best bread or bun for a keto cheeseburger grilled cheese? I used a keto-friendly hamburger bun and grilled each side so that it’s deliciously crispy. But you have other options, too.
You could use some keto Texas Toast. Butter each side and grill them. They will taste amazing with the burger and cheese.
If you don’t have any bread at all in your house, a low-carb tortilla will work, too! Wrap the tortilla around the burger and cheese and grill it like a quesadilla. Yum!
What To Eat With Cheeseburgers
What is your favorite thing to eat with burgers? Serve a low-carb version of it on the side with the cheeseburger grilled cheese sandwiches.
These keto fried pickles with cheese are the best thing to eat with some cheeseburgers. Or, make some keto potato salad with cauliflower.
Potato salad is a classic side to serve with burgers. If you like french fries, these keto ham and cheese chaffle sticks are a high-protein option to replace them.
Then, finish it all with a glass of sweet tea!
How To Store Leftover Burgers
If you want to use this in your meal prep, I suggest storing the cooked hamburger patties separately from the cheese and the bun.
Then, warm them up and assemble the burger fresh. It will taste better this way.
Store the cooked hamburger patties in an airtight container. Keep them in the refrigerator for up to three days.
