This delicious breakfast recipe is two recipes in one! Keto smashburger tacos are made with sausage, eggs, and fresh pico!
Smashburger Tacos
If you have ever enjoyed a thin and crispy Smashburger, then you already know you’re in for a huge treat with this recipe! I fell in love with the thin, crispy patties and recreated them when I made keto Big Mac Smashburgers.
And they’re perfect for lunch or dinner. But what about breakfast?
So, I made Keto Bacon Egg Sausage and Cheese Smash Tacos and they are still a huge hit in my house. My kids still ask for them! But to really get that Smashburger feel with the smashed patties, I used only natural ground breakfast sausage.
You’re going to love them!
Breakfast Tacos
These breakfast tacos are full of your favorite Tex Mex flavors! Spicy red pepper flakes, fresh and juicy pico de Gallo, and plenty of cheddar cheese.
And with only 3 grams net carbs in each one, you have a lot of room for culinary creativity. Add some guacamole on top. This will make it taste incredible!
Or give it some heat and mix some jalapenos into the pico de gallo. You could even replace the pico with spicy keto salsa.
If you really want to turn up the heat, add as much hot sauce as you can handle. My favorite one is Cholula!
This will elevate your breakfast from boring to firey.
Sausage Tacos
Pork sausage is a regular feature in my breakfast recipes. I love the flavor and the classic texture that it has but feel free to change it up to suit your tastes.
If you want to eat less animal fat, then replace the pork sausage with turkey sausage. The flavor and texture is pretty similar.
You can also cook the scrambled egg with the sausage and then just smash it all on top of the tortilla.
Can keto dieters eat vegetarian meat instead of pork sausage? Yes, you can! But pay close attention to how many carbs are in the vegetarian sausage substitute.
It could be pretty high, depending on the type that you use.
Keto Breakfast Tacos
How do you eat the breakfast tacos? I like to just pick them up, fold the tortilla in half, and eat them up!
But there are a few more options you could choose. First, add a second tortilla on top, flip it in the skillet, and cook both sides.
Now you have breakfast quesadillas! You can eat them by hand or with a fork.
If you make scrambled eggs instead of fried eggs, then you could add just enough meat and eggs to allow you to roll the tortilla into a mini burrito. There’s no right or wrong way to eat them. Either way, you’re going to love them!
Keto Breakfast Sides
Keto breakfast Smashburger tacos are perfect for lunch or dinner. Since they’re basically and all-purpose recipe, here are some of my favorite sides to go with them.
If you’re going to eat it for breakfast, make some Keto Ricotta Pancakes or 90 second Keto French Toast on the side with it.
If you’re craving something sweet, make some keto crispy cinnamon cream cheese roll ups. They taste like churro cheesecake!
I also like to make a keto baked avocado egg with the breakfast hash. It’s high-fat and extra filling.
Then, sip on a keto brown sugar shaken espresso and you have the perfect meal.
