Keto Protein Smoothie
Whether you’re on a keto diet to lose weight or you’re just trying to build lean muscle, this high-protein smoothie will help you meet your goals. The secret to the flavor (and the nutrition) is the low-carb chocolate protein powder.
Sure, anyone can use that powder to make a quick chocolate shake. But when you make this strawberry smoothie, you turn it into a dessert that you can eat for breakfast!
Keep reading and I’ll share a few different ingredient swaps you can make. It’s a really versatile recipe that you can change in a bunch of different ways.
Since all you have to do is put everything in a blender, it’s a breakfast that’s ready in minutes!
Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie
What else can you eat for breakfast on a keto diet? There are plenty of egg recipes on keto, but when you don’t want to cook (and you definitely want something that’s not eggs) this smoothie is a refreshing choice.
It has a rich chocolate flavor that satisfies your sweet tooth, plenty of protein, and fresh strawberries, too!
Did you know that strawberries are a fantastic source of vitamin C? They sure do!
If you’re ever feeling under the weather, this smoothie will give your immune system a boost!

Here are a few notes about any ingredient swaps or substitutions you can make (if you want to). First, use your favorite kind of cocoa powder.
I suggest a regular, unsweetened variety. If you use a dark chocolate, it might taste too rich.
The best sweetener will be a confectioner’s sugar substitute because it dissolves really well. But you could also use a liquid sweetener, too.
If you use a liquid sweetener, start with 1/8 a teaspoon, taste it, and then keep adding a little at a time until it’s a sweet as you want it to be.
Finally, I used unsweetened almond milk as the base. But you can also choose to use dairy milk or refrigerated unsweetened coconut milk.
If you change the type of milk that you use, you might have to recalculate how many carbs are in the smoothie.
Chocolate Strawberry Protein Smoothie
Should you use fresh or frozen strawberries? That’s honestly up to you!
If you use frozen strawberries, the smoothie will still taste the same. In fact, I like to freeze strawberries and use them in smoothies – saves me time and money!
There are 5 grams net carbs in each smoothie, so this really could be your entire breakfast, without anything else. If you want to eat something with it, I suggest eating something with almost no carbs – like cloud bread or a few slices of bacon.
How To Store A Smoothie
Yes, you can make and eat smoothies on the keto diet! You just have to be smart about which ingredients you use.
I don’t recommend trying to store your smoothie in the fridge. As it sits, the ingredients might separate.
Store your leftover smoothie in the fridge, but eat it within the same day.
Do you want more smoothie ideas for your keto diet? Make a classic keto blueberry coconut smoothie or keto pumpkin smoothie.
I’ve even made a keto strawberry cheesecake smoothie that gives you that fruity flavor you love.
