Skip the bakery – make keto-friendly bagels at home! Cottage cheese bagels only have three simple ingredients.
Cottage Cheese Bagels
The key to success on keto is to recreate your favorite recipes (like bagels). When you can still enjoy things like bread and rolls on keto, you’re more likely to stick to the plan and keep burning fat.
I did this before when I made Keto Everything Bagels and Keto Bagel Bites. Both of these recipes are dupes for the kind from the bakery.
As declious and easy as those were, I challenged myself to make an even easier recipe, and I did it! These cottage cheese bagels really do taste just like the bagel you might get at your favorite bakery, but they only have three simple ingredients.
They might look kind funky when you put them on the baking sheet, but they crisp up perfectly in the oven.
Three Ingredient Bagels
These keto bagels are made with just cottage cheese, keto self-rising flour, and an egg. Those are the three main ingredients. But you could add other things to it to make them taste differently.
For some flavor, I sprinkled everything bagel seasoning on top, but that’s optional. You could also make sweet bagels by adding a Swerve brown sugar substitute and cinnamon mixture for the top.
For something deliciously savory, sprinkle the top with shredded parmesan cheese and dried rosemary.
If an easy bagel recipe is what you need, then you just found it! As you can see, this is the perfect base recipe that you can build on and change.
In just 30 minutes you’ll have oven-fresh bagels, ready to sink your teeth into.
Grain-Free Bagels
These grain-free bagels are perfect for anyone who needs to avoid wheat or gluten. If you can’t find keto-friendly self-rising flour in the stores, make some at home.
I didn’t use self-rising flour in my other recipes and they turned out just as good. If you want to make more bagels, make my Keto Onion Bagel Recipe and Keto Jalepeño Cheddar Bagel Recipe.
You’ll love them!
In fact, here’s my recipe for keto self-rising flour.
Keto Self-Rising Flour Recipe
To make enough keto self-rising flour for these bagels, just mix together these ingredients:
- 1 cup Almond Flour
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1 pinch Salt
That’s it! Double or triple that recipe if you want to use it to make other recipes.
What To Eat With Bagels
These bagels taste delicious for breakfast with some cream cheese or use them as a bread replacement for your favorite sandwiches. In fact, use these bagels instead of keto buns and make a Keto Breakfast Burger.
If you’re going to serve these bagels for breakfast or brunch, make either Keto Sausage and Zucchini Breakfast Hash or Low-Carb Breakfast Casserole to go with it. Both will feed a crowd.
How To Store Homemade Bagels
My cottage cheese bagels taste the best when they are hot and fresh out of the oven, but you can store them at room temperature too. Store them in an airtight food storage bag or container and keep them in your pantry or on your counter for up to a week.
These bagels are freezer-friendly too! To freeze them, bake them and let them cool completely.
Then, place them in a single layer on a baking sheet and put the baking sheet in the freezer.
Once they are all frozen, put the bagels in a resealable freezer-safe food storage bag. They will stay fresh in the freezer for up to 6 months.
