A plate of low-carb beef and broccoli is bursting with fresh orange flavors – it’s the perfect carryout dupe when you’re craving Chinese.
Beef and Broccoli
Just looking at this recipe makes you hungry, doesn’t it? Bright green broccoli, red peppers, and tender stir-fried steak are all covered in a sticky, sweet, and impeccably zesty sauce that is surprisingly low-carb.
Yup, you won’t believe it when you taste it, but there are just 5 grams net carbs in each serving. That leaves plenty of carbs left for some fun and tasty sides too.
Low-Carb Beef and Broccoli
You know that feeling when you look at a Chinese restaurant menu? You feel like “ugh, what is there that I can eat?” That’s why I prefer to make my own recipes at home.
This is different than my low-carb beef and broccoli recipe. It’s actually a copycat Panda Express Beijing Beef recipe. It’s also a creative take on one of my favorite recipes – orange chicken.
So even though it’s really tough to find low-carb options at Panda Express, you can still enjoy the same flavors at home.
Low-Carb Orange Beef
Even though oranges and orange juice are not keto-friendly, it’s ok to use orange juice in small amounts when you cook. You still get that fresh and sweet flavor without going over on your carbs!
When you make this recipe, I suggest using pre-cut steak or asking someone in the meat department to slice it for you. It just saves you so much time! You might even be able to find some steak already cut into strips for stir-fries.
What To Eat With Beef and Broccoli
Since this is a classic Chinese recipe, I like to serve it with other low-carb Chinese side dishes. Start out with some keto crab rangoon casserole and then add a bit of an egg roll in a bowl.
For something lighter, make some egg drop soup or a classic keto naked wonton soup.
And you can never go wrong making some cauliflower rice. Just place the beef and broccoli on top of the cauliflower rice and dinner is served.
Keto Chinese Recipe
The sauce for the orange beef and broccoli uses ingredients that are easy to find. If you’re going to make keto Chinese recipes at home, I suggest keeping these on-hand. You’ll use them over and over again!
The oyster sauce adds a fantastically salty and savory flavor to the sauce, balancing out the sweetness from the orange juice and orange zest.
It’s best if you juice a fresh orange because you’ll need to zest for the sauce too.
