Tender pork loin bites covered in a hot and sweet sauce is irresistible! This keto sweet and spicy pork recipe is the perfect takeout alternative.
Chinese Hot and Spicy Pork
If you’re ever craving Chinese takeout, make this instead. The pork is covered in a combination of umami, sweet, and spicy flavors.
It’s so hot and sweet that they are difficult to stop eating! Thankfully, there are just 2 grams net carbs in each serving (and this recipe makes four large servings!).
That means you can indulge and eat enough to feel full and satisfied. This recipe is almost completely gluten-free, too.
There are traces of gluten in soy sauce. If you need it to be completely gluten-free, I suggest using coconut aminos instead.
It tastes just like soy sauce, but without the gluten.
Sweet and Spicy Pork
How do you make pork sweet without sugar? You use Swerve brown sugar substitute.
This is my favorite keto-friendly sweetener to use when I want to add deeper flavors with a slight caramel taste. It really tastes just like classic brown sugar.
You can make it as spicy as you want, too! The chili garlic sauce and ginger paste are what add the heat to the pork.
If you want it to be spicier, add more red pepper flakes and a bit more chili garlic sauce. Red pepper flakes will light up your taste buds – a little bit goes a long way.
Keto Asian Pork
The best cut of pork to use in this recipe is boneless pork tenderloin. But if you find a low-priced pork loin, grab it!
Since you’ll be cutting the pork into bite-sized pieces, pork loin or tenderloin both work. And to prevent the pork from drying out, I suggest cooking it until it reaches an internal temperature of 145F.
Use an instant read meat thermometer and remove it from the heat when it gets to 145F. Then, don’ t forget to garnish with some sesame seeds and green onions before you serve it.
What To Eat With Pork
Since this is a classic Chinese recipe, I suggest serving it with some takeout copycat recipes. Start out with some cauliflower rice or keto Chinese noodles.
Do you like crab rangoons? Then replace them with some keto crab rangoon casserole too.
Or amp up the flavor with bacon and green beans or a plate of keto bok choy stir fry with soy sauce eggs. Now you have a dinner that everyone will dig into!
How To Store Pork
The sweet and spicy flavors will still taste just as robust and delicious even a few days later. Store leftover sweet and spicy pork bites in an airtight container and keep them in the refrigerator.
They will stay fresh for up to three days. You can freeze the pork, too!
Keep them in a freezer-safe food storage bag. Keep them in the freezer for about six months.
