Turn olives into spiders and serve these fun keto caprese cucumber bites at your Halloween party. So fun and so nutritious!
Keto Halloween Recipe
Are you planning a fall or Halloween party? Then add these cute little caprese cucumber bites to the menu!
I got inspired to make them after everyone loved and raved about my first keto cucumber spider bites. Those were really simple – sliced cucumber, cream cheese, and olives cut to look like spiders.
In these caprese bites, I used the same olives-as-spiders technique. But I put the olive spiders on top of mozzarella, basil, balsamic vinegar, and a tomato slice.
The result is way more flavor and color!
Caprese Cucumber Bites
Since these cucumber bites are made with olives and tomato, I suggest serving them at a party for adults. They will probably be more likely to eat them!
And I also suggest using real, fresh mozzarella. It should be really soft. The fresher the mozzarella, the better it will taste!
Use this as an excuse to really splurge on some amazing balsamic vinegar, too! I used regular balsamic, but if you go to a vinegar and oil shop, you can pick up some flavored vinegar that will taste amazing with the fresh basil.
Try it with lavender balsamic vinegar for a hint of floral sweetness!
Spider Cucumber Bites
As you can see, you will also need to use the correct kind of cucumber and tomatoes so that everything is the same size when you slice them. I used a large garden cucumber and a roma tomato.
Can you make the cucumber bites dairy-free? Yes, you can!
Miyoko’s Kitchen makes a dairy-free vegan mozzarella cheese substitute out of cashew milk and coconut oil. Give it a try!
Keto Halloween Appetizer
This is the perfect Halloween appetizer for kids, teens, and adults! This recipe makes about 12 little Caprese spider cucumber bites.
If you’re serving them at a party, I suggest doubling the recipe.
And remember to use fresh basil leaves. The dried basil is messier and doesn’t have the same fresh flavor as the small green leaves.
Make-Ahead Appetizer
If you want to make the cucumber bites ahead of time, I suggest only making them a few hours early. Don’t make them with the intention of storing them overnight.
Add these to the menu for your next party! Serve them with some keto crack biscuits.
They will also taste perfect with some Keto Cauliflower Pizza Bites for anyone who likes cheesy foods. To keep the finger-food theme, make some Keto Sausage and Spinach Roll Ups and Keto Air Fryer Fritters.
Guests will love them!
If you want to serve some appetizers that are nutritious as well as tasty, make Keto Spinach Balls and Low-Carb Pizza Pepper Poppers. They look and taste so good that guests won’t care that they are good for them.
