Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, air fryer corned beef is a traditional Irish recipe that’s naturally low-carb.
Air Fryer Corned Beef
When it comes to Irish food, you can’t get much more classic than corned beef and cabbage! In fact, after I made a creamy corned beef and cabbage skillet meal, I wanted to try to make a traditional corned beef recipe in my air fryer next.
My favorite thing about the air fryer is how easy it is to use! You don’t have to make any pans dirty or clean your stove from the greasy splatters.
The air fryer does all the work. It takes about an hour for the corned beef to cook in the air fryer, but all that time is worth it.
It comes out perfectly cooked, every single time.
Easy Corned Beef Recipe
Have you ever wondered what corned beef is, and why it got the name corned beef? Corned beef originated in Ireland in the middle ages, so it’s an ancient recipe.
Back then, it was known as salted beef. Today it’s called corned beef because it’s cured with large corns of salt!
That’s why so many people make corned beef for St. Patrick’s Day dinner. Since this beef brisket is so salty, I suggest not adding any additional salt or pepper.
My recipe has a fantastic dry rub that you can use, but be careful with using more seasonings than I do. It’s really easy to overpower the meat with too many spices.
Low-Carb Corned Beef
Any type of corned beef will be naturally low-carb, unless you add sugar to it. I don’t add any kind of sweetener because I prefer the beef to be savory and bursting with garlicky goodness.
How can you tell when the corned beef is fully cooked? The best way to tell that is to check the internal temperature of the meat in the thickest part of the brisket.
The internal temperature should be at least 145F.
What To Eat With Corned Beef
Cabbage is the perfect side dish to make with flavorful corned beef. I love keto cabbage au gratin because it’s overflowing with cheesy goodness.
For something a little more different, make some keto bacon wrapped cabbage. They are a fun little finger food.
And my family keeps asking for low-carb fried cabbage with bacon. You just can’t beat that bacon flavor!
You can also serve the corned beef with cauliflower mash or some keto butter fried cabbage. Almost anything will taste good on the side with the corned beef.
How To Store Corned Beef
This is the perfect recipe to add to your meal prep rotation. The corned beef is really easy to heat back up later in the week.
In fact, you can chop it up and use it on top of your salad! Store your leftover corned beef in an airtight food storage container and keep it refrigerated for up to three days.
Yes, you can freeze this recipe, too! Put it in a freezer-safe food storage bag. Keep it in the freezer for up to six months. Reheat it on a skillet on the stove.
