When you make everything in a skillet, dinner is ready in a flash! I love making skillet meals. I’ve made keto cabbage jambalaya skillet and keto cornbread chili skillet.

I love making the meat and veggies all in the same skillet. It’s like a casserole, but so much better. And the flavor possibilities are endless!
In the past, I’ve made skillet recipes that are smothered in a creamy sauce. But this time, I decided to make something without a sauce. All of the flavor is infused into the meat and veggies.
It’s made with basically three main ingredients – ground pork sausage, sliced mushrooms, and cauliflower florets. And it’s the spices that tie it all together.
Garlic Butter Mushrooms
I’ll be honest. Garlic butter has to be one of my favorite flavor combinations of all time! I’ve used it to make honey garlic butter shrimp and garlic butter chicken thighs. It also makes the best-tasting skillet steak you’ve ever eaten!

Since I love this combination so much, I knew it would work with mushrooms and cauliflower.
Surprisingly, you can use any type of protein that you want and it will all taste delicious.
I love the texture of the ground pork sausage. But you could make this recipe with thinly-sliced chicken or steak, too.
Keto Sausage and Mushrooms
To keep the Italian seasoning the same throughout the recipe, I used ground Italian sausage. The flavors meld perfectly with the garlic and Italian seasoning.

So if you want to add some heat to the recipe, I suggest using red pepper flakes instead of spicy ground sausage.
Be creative and experiment with all different types of mushrooms in this recipe. They will all taste delicious! The main difference will be the texture and how the feel as you eat them.
What about the cauliflower? If you don’t like cauliflower florets, replace them with your favorite low-carb veggie. Try it with broccoli or asparagus.
How To Store Cooked Mushrooms
This is the perfect recipe to add to your weekly meal prep. Store your leftover sausage and mushrooms in an airtight food storage container.

Keep it in the refrigerator. Then, eat it within three days. If it sits too long, the mushrooms will change texture and it won’t be pleasant.
You can freeze this recipe, too. Place the meal in an airtight and freezer-safe food storage bag.
Keep it in the freezer for up to six months. I suggest reheating it in the skillet for the best results.
What To Eat With Mushrooms
This recipe already has veggies and meat, so soup, rolls, and salad are the best things to serve with it. Start out with some skillet keto garlic butter rosemary rolls.

They have a lot of similar ingredients and flavors. Then add a bowl of keto broccoli cream soup to keep things light.
You have a few options for the salad. For something light, make keto creamy cucumber salad.
For something with a lot of different flavors, make a keto southwest salad. And for something sweet, you can add keto summer berry chicken salad to the table.

- Lightly steamed cauliflower florets

Instructions:

Add the Italian sausage and onions to a skillet over medium high heat. Saute until the meat is nearly completely browned, and drain any excess grease.

Mix in the cauliflower and mushrooms. Reduce the heat to medium, and continue to saute until the meat is completely browned and the onions have softened.

Stir in the butter, Italian seasoning and minced garlic. Saute for 3 more minutes before serving with some grated parmesan on top.
